Background

Meghan Helbick is a Registered Dietitian with a Master’s in Exercise Physiology, and trained as a Certified Mind Body Eating Coach.  She received her undergraduate degree in nutritional sciences from the University of New Hampshire.  Her one year dietetic internship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, a top teaching hospital in the USA, prepared her for all types of nutritional cases.  She then went on to complete her Master’s degree at Florida Atlantic University in exercise physiology to round out her education.  She has worked as a Health Coach and supervisor for Health Coaches for five years.  During that time she became proficient in strategies for behavior change, including Motivational Interviewing.  This sparked her interest in the role psychology plays in our food and lifestyle choices, and she took the 8 month certificate course in Mind Body Eating Coaching. Meghan is dedicated to her client’s highest goals, transforming their relationship with food and their bodies in a lasting way.  

How is my approach different?

For far too long, we’ve been inundated by negative messages about food, weight and diet. We’ve been told that we’re willpower weaklings or that we need more control. The majority of nutrition experts promote conflicting advice. The result is people are confused about what to eat, and how to have a happy relationship with food and a healthy metabolism. In my professional practice, I combine many of the best strategies from nutrition science and mind body nutrition.  By eliminating all the “shoulds and shouldn’ts”, I focus on what’s right for your body and your personal style. As we work together in this way, eating and health issues become a place of exploration. Instead of seeing such challenges as the enemy, they become opportunities for growth and self-improvement. In my training at the Institute for the Psychology of Eating, I’ve learned to help clients reach their highest goals not by strategies that punish, but through strategies that nourish.
